Don’t miss it:  The Jackrabbit Homestead listening party and art exhibition will be this Saturday, March 28!

Above is a work that will be on view, Mary-Austin Klein’s Cactus Weekender II (oil on Duralar, 6″ x 8″).   Mary-Austin has done extensive portraiture of the homestead cabins and participated in the Shack Appreciation Show associated with last year’s Homestead Cabin Festival.

The  listening party event, hosted by the project’s sponsoring organization, the 29 Palms Historical Society, will be held on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Historical Society Museum. This event is free and open to the public.  Talks will be given by photographer and JRHS creator Kim Stringfellow; cultural geographer Jacob Sowers; and local artist and activist Chris Carraher (yours truly).  Click here for more details and directions to the museum.

To coincide with the audio listening party an exhibit of cabin-related art will be on display at the 29 Palms Creative Center & Gallery located in close proximity to the museum.  The artists will donate 25% of any artwork sale to the Historical Society during this event.  The exhibition will be open throughout the day, and a reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m.  Exhibiting artists include:

  • Robert Arnett
  • Diane Best
  • Chris Carraher
  • Perry Hoffman
  • Mary-Austin Klein
  • Scott Montieth
  • Kim Stringfellow
  • Andy Woods
